Nano-copper ions assembled cellulose-based composite with antibacterial activity for biodegradable personal

摘要: The current SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has resulted in the widespread use of personal protective equipment, particularly face masks. However, the use of commercial disposable face masks puts great pressure on the environment. In this study, nano-copper ions assembled cotton fabric used in face masks to impart antibacterial activity has been discussed. To produce the nanocomposite, the cotton fabric was modified by sodium chloroacetate after its mercerization, and assembled with bactericidal nano-copper ions (about 10.61 mg·g–1) through electrostatic adsorption. It demonstrated excellent antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli because the gaps between fibers in the cotton fabric allow the nano-copper ions to be fully released. Moreover, the antibacterial efficiency was maintained even after 50 washing cycles. Furthermore, the face mask constructed with this novel nanocomposite upper layer exhibited a high particle filtration efficiency (96.08% ± 0.91%) without compromising the air permeability (28.9 min·L–1). This green, economical, facile, and scalable process of depositing nano-copper ions onto modified cotton fibric has great potential to reduce disease transmission, resource consumption, and environmental impact of waste, while also expanding the range of protective fabrics.

摘要:

聚丙烯(polypropylene, PP)支架是目前最常用的生物医用支架,在外科手术使用中存在黏连、感染、异物反应等缺点。本文报道了一种简易一步法,用于制备新型三氯生聚多巴胺聚丙烯(TPP)复合支架,从而有效地提高了PP支架的生物相容性和持续抗菌性。通过一步法绿色制造,具有广谱抗菌效果的三氯生在聚多巴胺形成过程中,在PP支架表面可以有效地与多巴胺发生相互作用。三氯生可从具有生物相容性的聚多巴胺表面涂层持续释放。利用三氯生(浓度为8 mg∙mL−1,即TPP-8)制备的5 mm × 5 mm的支架具备持续抗菌性,对最大菌液量为2 mL的大肠杆菌(E. coli)和5 mL的金黄色葡萄球菌(S. aureus)的持续抗菌时间超过15 d。本研究为长效抗菌医用生物材料的绿色制备提供了一个新的方向。

Antibacterial properties of extracts of

摘要: Canadian goldenrod ( ) is one of the most destructive invasive weeds in South-eastern China. To evaluate its potential application as dietary supplement in red swamp crayfish ( ), the antibacterial properties of aqueous and ethanol extracts of this plant against three major pathogenic bacteria in crayfish aquaculture were examined. Inhibition zone tests and determination of minimum inhibitory concentration revealed that the extracts had lower antibacterial activity than extracts from two traditional medicinal plants that possess antibacterial properties, garlic ( ) and cortex phellodendri ( ). However, they did exhibit greater antibacterial effects than extracts from another widely used medicinal plant, , and an aquatic weed, . Aqueous extracts of Canadian goldenrod gave greater inhibition than the ethanol extracts. Crayfish fed a diet with 2% these aqueous extracts exhibited significantly higher enzyme activity of alkaline phosphatase, catalase and phenoloxidase ( <0.05). Based on the results of this study, we conclude that aqueous extracts of Canadian goldenrod are highly promising for the development of new dietary supplement for use in crayfish aquaculture.

Biodegradable, superhydrophobic walnut wood membrane for the separation of oil/water mixtures

摘要: The preparation of environmentally friendly oil/water separation materials remains a great challenge. Freeze-drying of wood after lignin removal yields wood aerogels, which can be used as substrates to prepare fluorine-free environmentally friendly superhydrophobic materials, However, they are more suitable for absorption rather than filtration applications due to their poor strength. A study using cross-sections of pristine wood chips as substrates retains the original strength of wood, but the use of the cross-sectional of wood pieces limits their thickness, strength, and size. In this paper, a degradable fluorine-free superhydrophobic film (max. water contact angle of approximately 164.2°) with self-cleaning and abrasion resistance characteristics was prepared by a one-step method using pristine and activated walnut longitudinal section films as the substrate, with tetraethyl orthosilicate as a precursor and dodecyltriethoxysilane as a modifier. The tensile strength results show that superhydrophobic films with pristine or activated wood substrates maintained the strength of pristine wood and were 2.2 times stronger than the wood aerogel substrate. In addition, after cross-laminating the two samples, the films had the ability to separate oil and water by continuous filtration with high efficiency (98.5%) and flux (approximately 1.3 × 103 L∙m‒2∙h‒1). The method has potential for the large-scale fabrication of degradable superhydrophobic filtration separation membranes.

Hyperledger fabric-based consortium blockchain for construction quality information management

摘要: Lack of trust has been an ongoing issue for decades in construction quality management, hindering the improvement of quality performance. The development of mutual trust depends on immutable, traceable, and transparent construction quality information records. However, current information technologies cannot meet the requirements. To address the challenge, this study explores a blockchain-based framework for construction quality information management, which extends applications of blockchain in the domain of construction quality management. A consortium blockchain system is designed to support construction quality management in which participants’ information permissions and lifecycle are discussed. Additionally, this study presents in detail the consensus process that aims to address the problem of information fraud. The automated compliance checking based on smart contracts is presented as well, aiming to assure that construction products meet regulation requirements. Finally, an example of the consortium blockchain network is visualized to validate the feasibility of blockchain-based construction quality information management. The research shows that blockchain can facilitate mutual trust in construction quality management by providing distributed, encrypted, and secure information records and supporting automated compliance checking of construction quality.

Construction of sustainable, colored and multifunctional protein silk fabric using biomass riboflavin

摘要: Riboflavin sodium phosphate has been confirmed as a promising biomass product derived from natural plants. In this paper, a novel method of dyeing and multifunctional modification of silk fabric by impregnation with riboflavin sodium phosphate was proposed, such that protein silk fabric can be endowed with bright yellow color and multi-functionality. The results of this paper confirmed that the pH and concentration of riboflavin sodium phosphate solution are critical factors for dyeing and multifunctional modification. Attractively, the photochromic performance was one of the most distinctive features of the modified silk fabric, and the dyed silk fabric turned into fluorescent green from original yellow under 365 nm ultraviolet lamp. Furthermore, the modified silk fabric exhibited good antibacterial properties with a high inhibition rate of 92% for Escherichia coli. Besides, the flame retardancy of silk fabric was significantly improved after modification. The damaged length of modified silk fabric with 40% owf riboflavin sodium phosphate was lower than 10.4 cm and passed the B1 classification. As revealed by the result of this paper, riboflavin sodium phosphate is sufficiently effective in serving as an eco-friendly multifunctional agent for strengthening the add-value of silk textiles.

三维编织锥体织物的减纱技术

研究了由大端直径开始编织三维锥体织物的减纱技术,包括列向、环向减锭减纱、减细纤维束减纱等多种减纱技术及其组合;分析比较了各种减纱技术对织物结构完整性、操作简便性、机械化编织等方面的影响。减细纤维束减纱技术是特殊的环向减锭技术,具有保持织物结构整体完整、工艺操作简便、纱锭运动可实现机械化等优点,但不同纱束直径纤维编织使织物单元结构构造变得复杂多变。

Micronization of curcumin with biodegradable polymer by supercritical anti-solvent using micro swirl

摘要: Curcumin is a hydrophobic polyphenol compound exhibiting a wide range of biological activities such as anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-carcinogenic, anti-human immunodeficiency virus, and anti-microbial activity. In this work, a swirl mixer was employed to produce the micronized curcumin with polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) by the supercritical anti-solvent process to improve the bioavailability of curcumin. The effects of operating parameters such as curcumin/PVP ratio, feed concentration, temperature, pressure, and CO flow rate were investigated. The characterization and solubility of particles were determined by using scanning electron microscopy, Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy, and ultra-violet-visible spectroscopy. The result shows that the optimal condition for the production of curcumin/PVP particles is at curcumin/PVP ratio of 1:30, feed concentration of 5 mg·mL , temperature of 40 °C, pressure of 15 MPa, and CO flow rate of 15 mL·min . Moreover, the dissolution of curcumin/PVP particles is faster than that of raw curcumin.

Waterborne Poly(Vanillin-Butyl Acrylate)/MXene Coatings for Leather with Desired Warmth Retention and Antibacterial

摘要: This study presents a solvent-free, facile synthesis of a bio-based green antibacterial agent and aromatic monomer methacrylated vanillin (MV) using vanillin. The resulting MV not only imparted antibacterial properties to coatings layered on leather, but could also be employed as a green alternative to petroleum-based carcinogen styrene (St). Herein, MV was copolymerized with butyl acrylate (BA) to obtain waterborne bio-based P(MV–BA) miniemulsion via miniemulsion polymerization. Subsequently, MXene nanosheets with excellent photothermal conversion performance and antibacterial properties, were introduced into the P(MV–BA) miniemulsion by ultrasonic dispersion. During the gradual solidification of P(MV–BA)/MXene nanocomposite miniemulsion on the leather surface, MXene gradually migrated to the surface of leather coatings due to the cavitation effect of ultrasonication and amphiphilicity of MXene, which prompted its full exposure to light and bacteria, exerting the maximum photothermal conversion efficiency and significant antibacterial efficacy. In particular, when the dosage of MXene nanosheets was 1.4 wt%, the surface temperature of P(MV–BA)/MXene nanocomposite miniemulsion-coated leather (PML) increased by about 15 °C in an outdoor environment during winter, and the antibacterial rate against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus was nearly 100% under the simulated sunlight treatment for 30 min. Moreover, the introduction of MXene nanosheets increased the air permeability, water vapor permeability, and thermal stability of these coatings. This study provides a new insight into the preparation of novel, green, and waterborne bio-based nanocomposite coatings for leather, with desired warmth retention and antibacterial properties. It can not only realize zero-carbon heating based on sunlight in winter, reducing the use of fossil fuels and greenhouse gas emissions, but also improve ability to fight off invasion by harmful bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms.

Biodegradable poly(ether-imide-ester) elastomers were synthesized from succinic acid, 1,4-butanediol, polyethylene glycol 1000 and N′,N-bis(2-carboxyethyl)-pyromellitimide which was derived from pyromellitic dianhydride and glycine. The chemical structures, crystallinities, thermal stabilities, mechanical properties, hydrophilicities and biodegradabilities of these elastomers were investigated. The hard segments of the linear aliphatic poly(ether-ester) exhibited monoclinic chain packing. Increasing the amount of aromatic bisimide moieties in the poly(ether-ester) reduced the crystallinity of the material and improved the thermal stability and tensile strength of the elastomers. In addition, introducing a suitable amount of aromatic bisimide moieties into the poly(ether-ester) backbones endowed the elastomers with improved biodegradability but too many aromatic bisimide groups reduced the biodegradability of the elastomers.

为了让人体感到热舒适,同时节约能源,个人热管理正逐渐成为一种颇有前景的策略。通过更好地控制人体散热,个人热管理可以实现有效的个人降温和保暖。本文提出了一种简单的表面改性方法,在商用织物的基础上定制热传导和热辐射特性,以便更好地管理从人体到环境的整个传热路径。本文对一种同时具有降温和保暖效果的双功能非对称织物(BAF)进行论证。凭借粗糙度不对称和表面改性等优点,BAF在降温模式下通过增强热传导和热辐射表现出显著的降温效果;在保暖模式下,两条路径的散热都减少,从而实现个人保暖。结果表明,在BAF的降温和保暖模式下测得的皮肤温差可达4.6 ℃,表明一件BAF衣服可以扩大人体的热舒适区。希望本研究可为用于个人热管理的织物的设计提供新的视角,并为现有的用于个人降温和保暖的织物的简单改性提供新的解决方案。

Synthesis, molecular docking and antibacterial evaluation of 2-(4-(4-aminophenylsulfonyl)phenylamino)

摘要: A new series of 2-(4-(4-aminophenylsulfonyl)phenylamino)-3-(thiophen-2-ylthio)naphthalene-1,4-dione derivatives ( 3a-3n) were synthesized and characterized by spectral techniques. To understand the interaction of binding sites with bacterial protein receptor, the docking study was performed by the GLIDE program and compound -(4-(4-(1,4-dioxo-3-(thiophen-2-ylthio)-1,4-dihydronaphthalen-2-ylamino)phenylsulfonyl)phenyl)-3-methylbenzamide ( 3b) exhibited good glide and E model scores of ?5.89 and ?94.90, respectively. Moreover among all the molecules studied including the standards used, namely Sparfloxacin (4.8 μg/mL) and Norfloxacin (no inhibition observed) for their antibacterial property, compound -(4-(4-(1,4-dioxo-3-(thiophen-2-ylthio)-1,4-dihydronaphthalen-2-ylamino)phenylsulfonyl)phenyl)-4-nitrobenzamide ( 3e) exhibited the lowest minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) value of 1.3 μg/mL against .

Biodegradable polymethacrylic acid grafted psyllium for controlled drug delivery systems

摘要: Polymethacrylic acid (PMA) was synthesized on the backbone of psyllium (Psy) by a microwave assisted method to prepare polymeric grafted materials designated as (Psy- -PMA). Various grades of Psy- -PMA were prepared by changing the degree of grafting from 35%–58% and the materials were then made into tablets. Swelling and biodegradability studies of the tablets were carried out. Acetyl salicylic acid was incorporated in the various Psy- -PMA samples and tablets were prepared to study the in vitro drug release in acidic (pH= 4), neutral (pH= 7), and basic (pH= 9) media. In the acidic medium, the swelling was more than 1300%. In addition, the biodegradable Psy- -PMA had the highest drug release in the acidic medium. This may be attributed to Fickian diffusion since the drug and the medium in which it was released have the same acidic nature.
